Spark Cleantech is a fast-growing and innovative start-up developing a breakthrough process that replaces the combustion of hydrocarbons in high-temperature industrial furnaces and in materials production with an alternative that is not only fully decarbonised, but also economically competitive and requires only minimal adaptation to existing industrial processes.
Following the successful deployment of an industrial pilot on a client site in 2024 and a major funding round in 2025, we are now building our first industrial standard.
Our ambition is bold: to address, by 2027, sectors that represent 10% of the global CO2 emissions on a multi hundred Bn€ market.

🎯 Your Role
As part of the Operations department and reporting to the Engineering manager and functionally to the HSEQ Manager, your main mission will be to support the development of the New Test Bench of Spark (SPRING – 100kg/day H2 capacity, manned 24h per day) as far as process is concerned and to support the development studies of SPARK especially the safety and regulatory dossiers.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Process Engineering : producing and reviewing engineering documents for the process discipline. Develop robust process simulation tools of the plant to produce process reports. Write down operating philosophies, process control philosophies, Safety concepts etc…
Participate or Organize the various mandatory safety studies for an industrial project (HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study), Lightning risk study, ATEX studies (Explosive Atmospheres), SIL (Safety Integrity Level), FMEA (AMDEC) for the Spark proprietary technology, Develop Cause-effect matrices and Emergency Shut Down Diagrams, Prevention plans (POI), etc.)
Develop, analyze, and monitor major risk management plans, consolidating requested corrective and preventive measures.
Collaborate with specialized engineering firms and authorities for the constitution of ICPE regulatory files (authorization, registration, or declaration dossiers depending on the applicable regime).
Frequent travels are required to construction and assembly sites.

Engineer from High Education schools
Minimum 5 years in Engineering Company or Production at site
Driving Licence is required
Regulatory knowledge in ICPE, ATEX, Occupational health and industrial safety
Knows how to compute Explosion Area and impacted areas (logiciel PHAST), knows possible engineering contractors and is familiar with contracting terms and rates (e.g. NEODYME)
Process simulation (HYSYS, Prosim, PRO II etc.)
Familiar with engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, Operating Philosophy, Technical Datasheets, etc.
Interface management
Very good writing skills
Flexible but rigorous
Open Minded but Normative on the engineering methodologies
Safety champion (communication skills and leadership)
